I don’t know about you guys, but recently my skin has been making some very reckless scenes in the past few weeks and really acting out against the Great British weather. I mean, Oxford has managed rain, snow, sleet, sun and hail all in one week!

So, I’ve been suffering a few breakouts and blemishes and although I’m never one to toot my own horn… they are usually quite the rarity?

I thought it was about time to rejig my skin care routine anyway, so I took a trip to see one of the lovely ladies down at Prestige Beauty who pointed me in the direction of Dermologica and helped me pick a few goodies that have worked a real treat..

(To give you a quick overview, I’m used to having normal skin to oily skin, but since the weather change I now have an oily T-zone, very few dry areas but the dehydrated cheeks.. Hope this helps!)

Pre cleanse
Finally an easy to use, oil based hardcore-makeup remover. As a lady who likes to wear full coverage on a day to day basis, this oil is great to use before bedtime and makes the whole process of cleansing so much nicer.

I pop a little bit of this in the palm of my hands and glide over my face until I resemble something a little less cute than a panda, then wet my hands and continue massaging to create a milky emulsion to take off any unwanted extras.

Special Cleansing gel
An oldie but goodie! I used this a lot throughout my teenage years and it worked wonders for me, so I was excited when this was prescribed to me again! Special Cleansing Gel is great as it doesn’t harm your skin’s existing moisture balance, so with soothing balm mint and lavender, it can be used for all skin conditions.

Skin Prep Scrub
I’ve touched on how much I love exfoliants before, and I have to say the Skin Prep Scrub has to be one of my all time favourites. It has a lovely earthy scent and it seems a little bit goes such a long way. I focus this mainly around my T-zone and give a lighter coverage over my cheeks, and after just one application my skin is looking perfectly polished and bright.

Skin Hydrating Masque
I’ll be completely real and say I wasn’t too sure about this at first. I went head over heels for this in the spa but as soon as I got home the scent completely through me and I wasn’t sure wether or not to return the product. But, I carried on and after seeing the results and how easy it was to apply I couldn’t see myself without it!

It’s nothing too fancy and probably not a pamper product, but it’s so quick and easy to use that you can pop it straight on and it won’t transfer or leave any sticky residue. So if you’re morning routine is a little rushed like mine, you can relax a little more whilst your skin is completely listed of any dehydration.

Active Moist
An easy wear moisturiser I just pop on in the mornings, and oil free so it sits lovely under makeup. Not only does this keep my skin well hydrated during the day, the silk amino acids help to refine the skins texture without feeling tight! luvly jubbly.

If you haven’t tried Dermologica before, it’s an absolute game changer! The packaging is very minimum, but you can honestly see how a majority of their budget goes in to bringing you the best ingredients they can. It was so easy to pop into my local Dermologica stockists, and skin mapping should always be free.

Let me know how it goes, kittens!

Hello kittens, it’s that time of year again!

2016 is flying by, and the only real reason I believe we’re nearing April is because of the festive Easter downpours. However, March has brought a lot of amazing products our way and it seems my favourite beauty brands have been firing out new launches left, right and centre, but just while i wait for everything to be shipped, my March favourites are oldies, but goodies..

“Cup O’ Coffee” exfoliating mask

I should start off by mentioning I LOVE exfoliating.. probably an unhealthy amount. There is nothing better than feeling your skin is completely scrubbed of all the rancid things that may have been inhabiting your once perfect pores, especially if like me, you live in a busy city.
Lush’s “Cup O’ Coffee” mask is an infusion of coffee, fair trade vanilla, roasted cocoa granules and vetivert oil, but you can read all about that here.
It is truly one for the coffee lovers, and a mask that leaves your skin feeling awake, fresh and squeaky clean!

Stripdown and Sandy B

What.A.Combo. I find that of all the mac lipsticks, the frost collections are virtually never talked about, but they are by far my favourites! I have no idea why they aren’t raved about more often, but I hope this will inspire you to give this look a try..
Sandy B is a soft pink with a subtle gold shimmer, a staple lipstick that should be in all of our makeup bags, however when complimented with Stripdown liner underneath, there’s a whole new lip look that would give even Kylie Jenner a run for her money!

My Philip Kingsley Collection

Girls and boys, if you also suffer with hideously fine hair that can’t hold a look even after a whole bottle of batiste, I have the solution you are looking for.
I have been squirrelling away hair products for what seems an eternity, but i have found a few great products from the great Philip Kingsley that have cut my hair care routine in half, making my manic mornings a thing of the past. If you wanna know a little more, you can have a read here.

“Lust” Gorilla Perfume

Ahh Another Lush lovely! I had an amazing client earlier on this month and I had to ask what scent she was wearing. She was so kind and had offered me a spritz, but as soon as we finished her appointment I was running to our local Lush to douse myself to a highly flammable state.  Notes of jasmine, ylang ylang, rose, vanilla and sandalwood are a definite diptique dupe!

And saving the best for last,
The amazing return of Ru Pauls Drag Race!

If you’re yet to catch up on wigs, weaves and Willam, or have a burning desire to binge watch beautiful drag queens lip sync for their lives, I suggest you sashay over to netflix and stay there for a few hours.. I promise you will not regret it.

At last, a time I thought would never come – finding truly great products that put some sexy shape into my miserable, messy mop 💁

I should start by telling you a little bit about my hair – it has seen all colours: fluorescent blues, peacock greens, bellatrix purples and barbie blondes.. It has been bleached, shaved, mohawked and braided (and you thought your teens were awkward) all to the point of falling out and resembling a Draco Malfoy/Macaulay Culkin hybrid. But one thing has always stayed the same – it is very very fine.

Since growing back over the past year or two, my ‘do’ is now in a healthy state after some much needed TLC. I only have to wash my hair once, maybe twice a week, I let it dry naturally whenever I can, and I’m always twirling my hair around with some of Lush’s RnB in the rare occasions I use my GHD curling wand.

Now my hair feels lovely, hydrated and thick. I finally have something I can work with – If i wanted. After using my Philip Kingsley collection I only have to flick my hair back once to have more of a mannerly mane as a opposed to a lifeless lob.

The secret?..

Body BuilderBody Building Shampoo
For fine, limp or flyaway hair types

The main ingredient in keeping every big and bouncy – I wash this through only once, the habit of cleaning my hair twice wasn’t hard to break as you can feel the product work almost instantly. Get massaging this in the roots and you won’t want to stop.

Moisture Balancing Conditioner
For medium textured, wavy hair or chemically processed fine textured hair

My hair right now has been coloured ever so delicately by the talented trimmers down at Andrea and Achilles in Oxford, and whilst it wasn’t anything as harsh as a full on bleach, it’s always good to get any mop moisturised. This has such a silky texture and although the packaging isn’t too fancy, feels like a real luxury treatment.

Maximizes volume, body and bounce. For fine, limp and flyaway hair types

If I had to pick only one of these amazing products, this would be it. I let my hair dry naturally whilst taking roughly ten minutes hours to do my makeup, spray this onto the roots and very gently blow dry on cold for a bit. Once my roots are dry, I can let the rest air dry and still have a decent amount of volume and texture. The best part is the maximizer also doubles up as a heat protecter that doesn’t leave a sticky residue! finally..

If I’m feeling like my hair might need a little pick-me-up, or I’ve backcombed out of control, I will go ahead and also use the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer – one of the first ever pre shampoo condition treatments that helps to give your hair the kick up the backside it needs if you find your ends snapping or mid-lengths drying out too easily.

I have to stress, as much as I would have loved for this to have been an ad.. it’s not. I’m just a loving fan, and if you know of any products I’m missing out on or you’re thinking of trying my technique, let me know! 🌻
